Cosmetics and household chemicals distributor Interchem started developing a third franchise cosmetics retail chain named A’propos, which is to eventually consist of 500 stores across Poland. The A’propos website was launched at the end of 2011 and Interchem started inviting retailers to participate in the franchise project.

According to vice chairman of Interchem Grzegorz Nedza, it is necessary to build a strong group that will compete with discount stores and Rossmann, the largest player on the Polish cosmetics retail market.

The A’propos offer consists of three formats: A’propos Drogerie, A’propos Beauty Shop and A’propos Home & Beauty. Franchisees will also have access to Interchem’s private labels. The chain is operated by Rawix Omega RCR from the Interchem group. According to the A’propos website, so far there are eight stores in the chain.

Interchem also acquired Polbita in 2011, which operates the Drogerie Natura retail chain. The takeover was funded by the Resource Partners fund, which has a controlling stake in Interchem since the beginning of 2011. In addition, Interchem operates the Drogerie Aster cosmetics retail chain.

The Drogerie Aster chain consists of about 135 stores while Drogerie Natura has about 245. Interchem has three logistics centres and seven cross-docks.
